INDUSTRY 01 - SINCE 1991
KEEP THE FLOOR CLEAR ON EVERY PHASE OF THE BUILD
Construction and maintenance sites change layout every week – new trades in, old trades out, scaffolding up in one bay and coming down in another. Every phase adds temporary cable, hoses and lifting gear to a floor that other crews are still walking across. CableSafe keeps that gear off the ground and off the scaffold, so a routine phase change doesn’t turn into a slip, trip or dropped-object incident.
THE SITUATION ON SITE
A construction or maintenance site rarely looks the same two weeks running. Scaffolding goes up in one bay while it’s being struck in another, new trades arrive as earlier phases wrap up, and every one of them brings temporary power cable, air hoses and lighting leads onto a floor that other crews are still using to move materials and people.
That constant change is exactly what makes cable and hose management hard to get right with ad-hoc solutions. A lead that was safely routed on Monday can be a trip hazard by Wednesday once the scaffold configuration shifts or a new trade sets up nearby – and on a site with dozens of contractors moving through at once, that risk compounds fast.
Height brings its own version of the same problem. Scaffolding, mobile elevated work platforms and structural steel put tools, fixings and small hardware directly above walkways and work areas below, and a single dropped item from height remains one of the most common causes of serious injury on construction sites globally.
CableSafe gives site managers and HSE teams a standard kit that travels with the phase, not the floor plan: quick-deploy cable protection that can be relaid as the layout changes, drop-prevention nets and tool tethers for scaffold and platform work, and barrier systems for the manholes, pits and temporary openings that appear and disappear as groundworks progress.
COMMON HAZARDS
Cable & hose runs across a changing floor plan
Temporary leads that were safely routed one week become a trip hazard the next as scaffolding, trades and work zones shift – a layout that never stays still is exactly what ad-hoc cable management can’t keep up with.
Dropped objects from scaffold and platform work
Scaffolding, MEWPs and structural steel put tools and fixings directly above walkways and work areas, and a dropped item from height remains one of the most common causes of serious construction site injury.
Open manholes, pits and temporary excavations
Groundworks and utility installs create openings that appear and disappear as the phase progresses; an unmarked or unbarriered one is a fall hazard that’s easy to lose track of amid a fast-changing site.
Multiple trades, multiple standards
With several contractors on-site at once, cable and barrier practices vary trade to trade unless the principal contractor specifies a single standard kit that every crew is expected to use.
CABLESAFE SOLUTIONS
Seguridad de los cables
Route temporary power, lighting and air leads off the floor with 3-channel cable guards for light runs and 5-channel cable guards for bundled leads, and lift crossings clear of plant and vehicle traffic with a heavy-duty cable stand. All are quick to relay as the site layout changes.
Prevención de objetos caídos
Secure tools and fixings used at height with a steel securing lanyard, catch what still gets dropped with a red de seguridad contra caídas under scaffold and platform work, and close off gaps around temporary structures with a red combinada or a guard net.
Seguridad en espacios confinados
Mark and barrier every open manhole with a barrera rápida para bocas de alcantarillado, control access to deeper openings with a barrera de acceso a la boca de inspección, and cover pits and excavations with a red de cobertura until the next phase of groundworks begins.
SPECIFYING FOR A CHANGING SITE
A site that reconfigures weekly needs equipment that can be relaid just as often, without a large crew or specialist tools. CableSafe’s cable guards click together and lift apart quickly, so a change in scaffold layout or a new trade moving in doesn’t mean redesigning the cable route from scratch.
The same applies to drop-prevention gear and barriers: everything in the range is designed to go up fast when a new phase starts and come down just as fast when it finishes, so the kit keeps pace with the build rather than lagging behind it.
BUILT FOR THE STANDARD YOUR SAFETY OFFICER ALREADY CHECKS
Westmark B.V., the company behind CableSafe, has been supplying safety hardware to construction and industrial sites since 1991 – long enough to know that a solution has to survive a real, fast-moving site, not just a product photo.
Our cable guard and barrier ranges are built to the standards your safety officer already checks against: EN 1263-1 for netting systems, and the general secondary-retention and dropped-objects principles behind DROPS and IADC guidance for tools and equipment used at height.
Every product ships with the documentation your HSE file needs, and our team can spec a full kit list against your site programme – phase by phase – so nothing gets improvised on the day.
