INDUSTRY 04 - VESSELS & OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

MARINE & OFFSHORE SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Vessels, barges and offshore structures move constantly underfoot, which makes every loose cable, unsecured tool and open hatch a bigger hazard than it would be on solid ground. CableSafe keeps deck and platform work areas clear, so crew can move safely in a working environment that never stands still.

THE SITUATION ON SITE

On a vessel, barge or fixed offshore platform, deck space is fixed and every job competes for the same narrow walkways and stair towers. Welding leads, air hoses, ROV umbilicals and temporary lighting all have to cross those same routes, and unlike a land site there is nowhere to reroute a cable except overhead or through a hatch – both of which bring their own hazards.

Motion changes everything: a cable or hose that would simply be a trip hazard on land becomes far more dangerous on a moving deck, where a stumble is more likely to end in a fall over the side or into open machinery. The same applies to tools and hardware worked at height on a crane, mast or platform structure – a dropped item on a moving vessel is harder to predict and harder to avoid.

CableSafe supplies marine and offshore operators with a standard kit built for this environment: corrosion-resistant, non-conductive cable protection that keeps leads off the deck, drop-prevention nets and tool tethers for work at height, and quick-deploy barriers for hatches, manholes and other confined space entries below deck.

COMMON HAZARDS

Cable & hose runs across moving decks

Temporary leads crossing narrow deck walkways and stair towers are a serious trip hazard on a surface that is rarely still, with a fall risk that a land-based site doesn’t share.

Dropped objects over the side or below deck

Tools and hardware worked at height on masts, cranes and platform structures put crew below – and equipment on lower decks – at risk from a single dropped item.

Open hatches and unbarriered entries

Hatches, manholes and confined compartments below deck need controlled, barriered access; an unmarked opening on a working vessel is a fall hazard that’s easy to miss in low light or bad weather.

CABLESAFE SOLUTIONS

Seguridad de los cables

Route temporary leads off deck walkways with 3-channel cable guards for light runs and 5-channel cable guards for bundled leads, and lift crossings clear of trolley and vehicle traffic with a heavy-duty cable stand.

Prevención de objetos caídos

Secure tools and hardware worked at height with a steel securing lanyard, catch what still gets dropped with a red de seguridad contra caídas under masts and platforms, and close off gaps with a red combinada around temporary structures.

Seguridad en espacios confinados

Mark and barrier every open hatch with a barrera rápida para bocas de alcantarillado, control below-deck access with a barrera de acceso a la boca de inspección, and cover open deck penetrations with a red de cobertura until work is complete.

BUILT FOR A MOVING, SALT-EXPOSED ENVIRONMENT

Equipment used at sea has to survive salt spray, UV, humidity and constant vibration without corroding or losing grip. CableSafe’s marine-duty cable guards and barriers use corrosion-resistant, non-conductive materials chosen for exactly this exposure, not adapted from a land-based product line.

Because vessel schedules and offshore rotations leave little room for slow setup, everything in the range is designed to deploy and strike down quickly with a small crew, and to be re-used voyage after voyage rather than replaced after one trip.

WHY MARINE AND OFFSHORE HSE TEAMS SPECIFY CABLESAFE

Westmark B.V., the company behind CableSafe, has been supplying safety hardware to industrial and marine sites since 1991 – long enough to know that gear used at sea has to survive conditions a catalogue photo never shows.

Our cable guard and barrier ranges are built to the standards your safety officer already checks against: EN 1263-1 for netting systems, and the general secondary-retention and dropped-objects principles behind DROPS guidance for tools and equipment used at height.

Every product ships with the documentation your HSE file needs, and our team can spec a full kit list against your vessel or platform scope so nothing gets improvised on the day.
