A scissor-type aluminium barrier, 990 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick, that closes a manhole opening in seconds. Nuts and bolts adjust the scissor to the opening and 95 N magnets hold it to steel manways; an optional Lockout-Tagout kit secures it with a 3.6 m steel wire and a solid lock so nobody can enter while the manhole is open. It weighs about 1.5 kg, warns personnel and prevents unauthorised or accidental entry during maintenance and installation.

The LOTO system runs through the arms of the barrier and secures it to the manhole opening with a 3.6 m steel wire. A solid lock ensures the barrier stays in place and is not tampered with while the manhole is temporarily open. No one is allowed to enter, and that is visible and very clear — which prevents deadly accidents by accidental entry.
The standard colour is silver; the barrier is also available in other colours, for example safety red.

Pick the hook by the heaviest single load it will carry, not by hose diameter alone. The static load in the table is the figure to work with; when the load is dynamic or shock-loaded, ask us to check the application first.
A space not designed for people but entered to carry out work, with limited or restricted entry and exit: tanks, storage bins, vessels, pits and manholes. Some contain a hazardous atmosphere or converging walls, which is why unauthorised entry is so often fatal.
The scissor arms are adjusted with nuts and bolts to the opening and magnets of 95 N hold the barrier to a steel manway. Rubber-lined contact points keep it stable without damaging the flange.
A 3.6 m steel wire runs through the arms and locks the barrier to the manhole opening, so it cannot be removed or tampered with. The open manhole is visibly and physically secured until the permit holder unlocks it.
This barrier is for round manways. For irregular openings use the Manhole Skirt Barrier; for a wide range of round and square sizes the adjustable Manhole Entry Barrier.
