HAZARD ZONE - WORK AT HEIGHT

ELEVATED WORK AREAS AND PLATFORMS

Scaffolds, scissor lifts, boom lifts and other elevated platforms put workers and tools above ground level, so a dropped object becomes a fall hazard for everyone below. CableSafe’s tethering hooks and dropped-objects barriers secure tools on the platform and mark the drop zone at ground level.

THE SITUATION ON SITE

Any platform above ground level – a fixed scaffold, a scissor lift, a boom lift or a mobile tower – turns an ordinary dropped tool into a fall hazard for whoever is working or walking below it. The higher the platform, the more distance a dropped item has to build momentum, and the wider the area it can land in once it’s fallen.

The platform deck itself brings a second hazard on top of the drop risk: loose cables, hoses and hand tools left on the deck are a trip hazard at height, where a stumble is far more consequential than the same stumble at ground level. And unguarded edges – especially on platforms being erected or struck down – are a fall hazard for the workers on the platform itself.

CableSafe supplies site HSE teams with equipment for both ends of this hazard: tethering hooks and lanyards that keep tools secured to the worker on the platform, and dropped-objects barriers and netting that mark and protect the ground-level drop zone beneath elevated work.

COMMON HAZARDS

Dropped tools and materials from the platform

A dropped item from any elevated platform builds momentum on the way down, and the higher the platform, the wider the area it can land in below.

Unguarded edges during erection and strike-down

Platforms being built up or taken down are at their most exposed, with edges and openings that aren’t yet fully guarded.

Trips on the platform deck from loose cables

Cables, hoses and hand tools left loose on the deck are a trip hazard at height, where a stumble carries far more consequence than at ground level.

CABLESAFE SOLUTIONS

منع الأجسام الساقطة

Secure tools to the worker with a steel securing lanyard, and mark or catch the drop zone at ground level with a شبكة أمان للحماية من السقوط or شبكة كومبي.

سلامة الكابلات

Keep the platform deck clear with 3-channel cable guards for light leads, so loose cable never becomes a trip hazard at height.

سلامة الأماكن المحصورة

Control access to platforms during erection and strike-down with a self-closing safety gate, so an incomplete guard rail doesn’t become an open edge.

EQUIPMENT THAT MOVES WITH THE PLATFORM

Elevated platforms move around a site as work progresses, so drop-prevention equipment needs to travel with them rather than staying fixed to one location. CableSafe’s tethering hooks and netting systems are built to be relocated quickly as the platform moves.

Every product in the range is rated for the loads and heights typical of construction, maintenance and industrial elevated work, and ships with the documentation your safety officer needs to sign off on the platform before work begins.

WHY SITE HSE TEAMS SPECIFY CABLESAFE FOR WORK AT HEIGHT

Westmark B.V., the company behind CableSafe, has been supplying safety hardware to construction and industrial sites since 1991 – long enough to know that work at height leaves no margin for equipment that doesn’t perform first time.

Our dropped-objects and cable ranges are built to the standards your safety officer already checks against: EN 1263-1 for netting systems, and the general secondary-retention and dropped-objects principles behind DROPS guidance for tools and equipment used at height.

Every product ships with the documentation your HSE file needs, and our team can help you spec the right combination of tethering and ground-level protection for your platform work.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Secure them to the worker with a steel securing lanyard, so a dropped tool is caught before it falls to ground level.
Yes – a fall protection safety net or combi net can be positioned beneath elevated work to catch or deflect falling objects.
Yes, our tethering and netting range works across scaffolds, scissor lifts, boom lifts and mobile tower platforms.
Our tethering hooks and netting systems are designed for fast deployment and relocation, since elevated work areas move around a site as work progresses.
